Description
This introductory organic chemistry course provides students with a strong foundation in the structure, bonding, and reactivity of organic molecules. Students begin by learning molecular shape, intermolecular forces, resonance, and functional groups. The course then builds into acids and bases, nucleophiles and electrophiles, stereochemistry, and major organic reaction patterns. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify functional groups, predict basic reaction outcomes, explain mechanisms, and connect molecular structure to organic reactivity. Students in this course should preferably have AP chemistry background in VSEPR and bonding.
